Along Sultan Suleiman Street, Between Damascus Gate and al-Zahra Gate rises a high stretch of the Old City wall, its stones weathered by time and erosion. Built into layers of history, this section reveals the endurance of Jerusalem’s city walls—massive blocks bearing the marks of centuries of wind, rain, and footsteps.
Behind the wall, courtyards open into the life of the city, some of which echo with the steps of traditional dabke, connecting daily life to heritage within the shadow of the wall.. Beneath it all lies an even deeper layer: Magharet Sulaiman [the vast cave of Zedekiah], its entrance tucked just steps to the right, leading into one of the largest man-made caverns in the region.
